Petting Zoo Park Rapids, MN
  • How are you following COVID guidelines?
Per the state health order for outdoor events we have a list of ways we are complying. For that list of items being completed see more information here:
  • What should I be prepared for?
The Summerhill experience is perfect for those planning in advance or if you only have time to swing in! Before you arrive, keep in mind a few important things: Our team is committed to providing you with a first-class experience. If anyone in your group needs special assistance, please let one of our team members know. We are here to help. Handicap accessibility is still somewhat limited. Our shops are built on a hill, and we are making every effort to update walkways and paths to ensure an accommodating environment. Summerhill is under new ownership, and they are committed to continuing to renovate, rebuild, and re-invest in this amazing property. Be prepared: weather can be unpredictable in northern Minnesota at times. We encourage you to plan accordingly. We do have umbrellas and bug spray to purchase. Bugs can still be a nuisance at times, but we are working to mitigate horsefly and mosquito challenges. Although much improved, some paths and steps can be uneven, We suggest walking or tennis shoes to stay comfortable.
  • What are your hours?
We are open six days a week: Monday through Saturday. We are open a handful of Sunday's and have extended hours for special events, check our Events Page for specific dates and times. You can also follow us on Facebook to see special updates.
  • Do you have a place to eat?
Cafe’13 will provide a scrumptious and memorable lunch experience. We have great seating on the Sunporch as well as spread throughout the grounds.
  • Do you have anything organized for birthdays or special groups?
We offer birthday parties and special groups at the group rate per person. Call in advance for group reservations and pricing. If you are interested, we also can host private parties for your large family gatherings, corporate events and weddings.
  • What are your group prices?
We do offer group prices. See our Times/Prices page for the latest update on pricing. You can always send us an email for specific questions!
  • Is there a time limit?
You can stay for as long as we are open. Feel free to roam, play, relax, and enjoy your time. Most schools stay for about 2 hours as the minimum.
  • Are you handicap accessible?
For shopping, there are handicap accessible spaces to park making access easier to Cafe’s 13. Due to being situated on a hill, wheelchair accessibility is limited but we are working on addressing this. Because Summerhill is just re-opening with new owners as of 2021, becoming accessible to wheelchairs is a priority. For the Back 40, there is parking in the back with close access. Wheelchairs are accessible. The ground is gravel and fairly level.
  • Is your facility safe?
We value the safety of our guests and work tirelessly to ensure their safety. We comply with all state & local codes and licenses. Due to the nature of our park, we encourage guests to take caution when using the steps and to make sure to stay on paths and assigned walkways. There is a waiver of liability required before use of the Leap of Faith and Don’s Diggers.
  • Can we see animals?
Yes! BAJ’s Barn is a great place to check out our herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats and some other fun animals. You can interact with them in the pen or watch them play. Don’t forget we are Minnesota’s Nigerian Dwarf Goat Racing Capitol! :-)
  • Can we bring our dog?
We are sorry but due to liability purposes, dogs are not allowed.
  • Refund Policy
We are sorry but the Back 40 is a rain/shine event. For our shops, returns are accepted on items that have been unworn, unwashed, and with the receipt. We do not accept returns on the homemade and consignment items.
  • What is the cost of admission for The Back 40?
